COMMON QUESTIONS FOR ADULTS

DO I NEED TO BE FIT TO ATTEND A CLASS?

Our classes cater to anyone with a basic level of fitness and all our workouts are scaled. This means, as long as you are functional, have your basic motor (movement) abilities intact and you have the mental strength to keep pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone, you will be able to start classes immediately.

IS MMA SAFE?

Absolutely. At Submission Factory MMA, safety is our top priority in everything that we do. We teach martial arts in a safe, fun and supportive environment under the guidance of some of the best Coaches in Scotland  Of course, like in any other sport accidents can occur.  Before you can get on the mats, the gym will require you to sign a waiver encase accidents do happen though they are extremely rare in a controlled environment such as ours.

WHAT GEAR DO YOU NEED TO START MIXED MARTIAL ARTS?

MMA being a combat sport, will require specialized gear to protect from injuries. Your equipment will depend on the kind of form you pick. It is not necessary for you to purchase every item but here is a list of items you may need:

Boxing Gloves, Shin Guards, Head Guard, Mouth Guard, MMA Gloves, MMA Shorts, Compression Rash Guards, Groin Guard.

IS THERE CHANGING FACILITIES AT THE GYM?

Yes, there is both changing rooms and toilet facilities.

HOW DO I BECOME A MEMBER AND BOOK INTO A CLASS ?

All bookings are done via the COACHA APP you can register for the app via https://my.coacha.app/member_signup/OLW88826AL

COMMON QUESTIONS FOR KIDS

WHAT MUST MY CHILD WEAR WHEN ATTENDING CLASS?

All students must wear a long sleeve top/rash guard and a pair of Spats/Long bottoms/Leggings.

All students must be bare footed or wrestling/boxing boots are permitted as long as they are for mat use only.

All long hair must be tied back & no jewellery allowed on students whilst training.

* Please note normal P.E kit is fine.

WHAT CAN I DO AS A PARENT?

Food is not permitted in the Gym hall or fitness area. Please however keep hydrated and bring your own water/juice in a sealed bottle.

Please make sure your child has clean cut finger nails and toe nails.

​

Please make sure your child always has fresh clean clothing.

​

If your child is ill please keep them off the mats until fully recovered.

​

If your child has any skin rashes please show the coach before class.

CAN PARENTS ATTEND?

Parent/legal guardian permission is required to participate.
Groups should not be congregating before, during or after training. Parents don't need to spectate during training unless they feel the need or have been asked to stay to supervise their child.
If a child or young person may need support during a training session from their parent then they may do so as long as they keep physically distant from mat.

ARE YOU OPEN DURING SCHOOL HOLIDAYS?
 

Yes we run kids classes and events all year round and are open most school and bank holidays excluding Christmas
